Bantry Blues U14 footballers travelled to
Enniskeane to play Ahan Gaels on Sunday last for their opening game in the
league and came away with a 3-13 to 1-07 win.
In a first half playing against the wind,
the half back line of Seam Downey, Liam De La Cour and captain Eric Dowling were on
top of their game. Blues led at half time by 1-06 to 1-03, David O’Sullivan the
Bantry goalscorer.
Further goals by Shane McSweeney and Eoghan Minihane and points by
Shane Murray and Billy Foley in the second half sealed the victory. This was a
great start to the season with Kevin Coakley, Sean Downey, Liam De La Cour,
Eric Dowling, Eoghan Minihane and Shane McSweeney standing out on the day. The
U14’s have their next outing away to Kilmeen on March 3rd or 4th,
TBC.

Missing a number of players, the U16
football team also made the journey east for their opening league fixture and
lost out to a stronger Ahan Gaels side.
