Club Members on All Ireland Vocational Schools Winning Team

Bantry Blues 2012 Registration Day is on Saturday next, March 3rd at the clubhouse, Wolfe Tone Park. Club membership can be renewed or new members can sign up from 11.00 AM to 3.00 PM. Underage membership costs €35.00 with family membership available at €80.00. Membership for 17+ year olds’ costs €60.00.

Congratulations to club members Donal Casey and Gavin O’Shea who were on the All-Ireland Vocational Schools’ senior inter-county football championship winning team. Donal played in goals with Gavin at wing forward on the Cork Vocational Schools team that beat Kildare by a point in the final in Templetouhy, Co. Tipperary on Sunday last. Well done also to their schoolmate Stephen Casey from St Colums who was on the panel.

Bantry Blues Underage Club are very grateful to Pat Kiely and all his staff in O'Connor's Seafood Restaurant for inviting the Club to his recent fundraising event on Thursday 9th February. The money raised on the night will help with the funding required for the school's coaching program. The Lions Club were also in attendance and Bantry Blues Underage Club Chairperson Eamon McCarthy took the opportunity to thank the Lions Club for their contribution last year of a set of goal posts. Everyone enjoyed the fine food that was served up, including guest speaker Paolo Tullio.

The school's coaching program for 2012 got underway on Tuesday February 21st. This year all five primary schools in the area have been included in the programme and all classes within each school will get a 45 minutes coaching session for 10 weeks. Sean Carthy is coaching in Our Lady of Mercy Convent N.S., Inchiclough N.S., St. Finbarr's Boys N.S. and St. Brendan's N.S., while our local GAA Games Development Administrator Kevin O'Donovan is coaching in Gaelscoil BheanntraĆ­. The Club are very thankful to Kevin for his work with the schools in getting this programme into action and the schools are delighted that Sean is back again this year to provide top class coaching to their enthusiastic pupils.
