Ilen Rovers were
our guests on Friday evening last in Bantry for an U12 football league game. Played
in an 11-a-side format, this turned out to be a high scoring affair event with
a half time tally of Bantry Blues 1-11 to Ilen Rovers 3-05, Charlie Lavin the
Blues goalscorer.
The second half
turned into a goal-fest with no fewer than eleven goals in the period. Among
the guys who hit the net were Ciaran Thornton with two, Shane Crowley, Daniel
Downey, Keelan O’Sullivan, Kevin Clifford and Ayrton Doyle. Bantry ran out
winners on a scoreline of 8-13 to 7-07 in this most entertaining match. Matthew
Harley played very well in goals with Jack O’Brien, Ted Wiseman and Greg Cotter
the stars in defence. Overall a very enjoyable evening.
